The Asian Cultural Association is deeply committed to bringing South Asian arts and culture to the broader Central Florida community through a variety of free and accessible educational programs.

Education Programs

Music Therapy

The ACA offers a free music therapy program for local nonprofit centers for adults with intellectual disabilities. Accomplished teaching artists with extensive experience in performing music in the Hindustani classical tradition visit these centers, bringing with them the traditional percussion instruments from India. These programs often include ASL Interpretation and an extremely low student-to-teacher ratio.

Through the art of Indian music rhythm, students learn to count beats, maintain complicated rhythm, and recognize patterns. Over the course of several sessions, students demonstrated skills in confidence, counting, keeping rhythm, and pattern recognition.

Cultural Immersion — Temple Tour

An educational program designed to introduce students to the cultures and traditions of India. Students visit local temples to experience firsthand the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of the Indian subcontinent.

Orange County Public Schools Program

A school program that introduces the students of the Orange County Public Schools to the musical traditions of the Indian Subcontinent. The program showcases the concept of improvisation and highlights the similarities between the music of the East and West, fostering cross-cultural appreciation and understanding.

Community Projects

Fusion Fest

A free, two-day celebration in Downtown Orlando that features a kaleidoscopic fusion of aromas, sights, sounds, tastes, textures and fascinating stories on film that illustrate the diverse origins and heritages of our community. ACA is a proud member of the Fusion Fest board and actively participates in sharing South Asian culture with the Orlando community.

Immerse

A performing and interactive art experience hosted in Orlando that features installations, performances and moments. ACA has been a part of the Immerse Experience through music and dance for the past few years. Our Bhangra team and young Kathak Group have performed on the outdoor stages, as well as our Music Group Surabhi and Sons. We have showcased South Asian art throughout downtown Orlando.

Art from the Heart

A volunteer program for young artists to perform in the community at senior citizen centers. This initiative connects our talented young performers with seniors, bringing joy and cultural enrichment to local communities.
